New PCVs to the Philippines
The US Peace Corps has deployed 48 new volunteers who will collaborate with Filipino community members on local projects aimed at fostering relationships and exchanging knowledge and skills.
Donald James Gawe, Executive Director of the Philippine National Volunteer Service Coordinating Agency, extended a warm welcome to the 281st batch of US Peace Corps volunteers and expressed his optimism that they will “continue to serve as builders of hope and catalysts of change.” “U.S. Peace Corps Volunteers come from all over the United States and represent the diversity of the American people. They come with a variety of skills and experience to contribute during their service in the Philippines,” U.S. Ambassador MaryKay Carlson said.
What a great group photo. My group, No 101 trained at PRRM in Luzon in Sept.-Oct. 1976. We looked pretty much like this group;
bright, energetic, motivated volunteers. I am still in touch with members of my group and we have had reunions too. Some of us
went on following this experience to post-graduate studies and became managers and leaders in our perspective fields. Overall
this 2-year commitment is a golden opportunity for personal and professional growth. I wish them the best.
