Provides an initial review of specialized products to ensure that they meet approved editorial standards of objectivity, style, and manner of presentation. Recommends major changes in the organization, presentation, and factual coverage of products. Independently edits copy and tracks and monitors the layout of materials. Makes interpretations and tailors products to meet requirements or objectives.
Initiates and maintains relationships with subject-matter specialists responsible for preparing the products. Periodically apprises subject-matter specialists of editorial standards adhered to in the preparation of products. With regard to subject content and agency policy, obtains agreement or concurrence with major changes in approach, emphasis, or manner of presentation for a proposed product with interested parties in other divisions of the Agency.
Serves as proofreader and format editor for all OPATS materials, ensures adherence to Agency and Associated Press style guidelines, assures stylistic consistency, and promotes OPATS’ voice through a variety of documents. These documents include training packages, training manuals, handbooks, guides and other formal publications for broad distribution to Peace Corps staff, Volunteers and the general public. Other materials include but are not limited to promotional pieces, newsletters, presentations and departmental reports.
Coordinates the review and editing of publications with the Office of Communications. Incorporates required changes and provides finalized copy for the next steps in production/publication.
