Hawaii RPCVs Asking For Help
John Chromy (India 1963-65) writes:
For forty years the RPCV/Hawaii group has joined with local Rotary Clubs to raise funds for all kinds of community development and family assistance projects on the islands. Today, after the horrible Hurricane driven fire that consumed the community of Laihani, killed 80 people and left thousands homeless, the RPCV/Hawaii group is asking Peace Corps people everywhere to help the victims of this tragic double storm. Could you please ask/urge Peacecorpsworldwide supporters to extend the Peace Corps spirit by sending donations to:

Dear John (Chromy and Coyne),
Could you, please, provide a digital means to donate? (Venmo? PayPal?)
Many people will find it easier and faster to contribute that way.
Thank you!

Alana – you or anyone else can also donate to https://www.hawaiicommunityfoundation.org. Thank you!
Aloha all,
Mahalo to John for his posting. Two RPCVs who resided in Lahaina are ok. They evacuated with the clothes on their back and their car.
The quickest way to donate to help Maui is via online sites.
Hawaii Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund is providing the resources necessary to aid with disaster response and recovery.

Aloha United Way established a Maui Relief Fund where 100 percent of proceeds go directly to Maui United Way, whose partner agencies include Maui Food Bank, the Red Cross and the Salvation Army.

Hawaii Red Cross has shelters for evacuees set up across both Maui and Hawai’i Island, where wildfires are also displacing residents.

Mahalo to everyone for sending prayers and malama for those in Lahaina. The town is essentially gone, houses and jobs, and lives, gone. Be thankful for what you have.
