Growing Together: Stories from the Peace Corps
Calling all RPCVs!

Join us as we celebrate Peace Corps Week 2024 with a memorable storytelling contest that will illuminate the amazing work and spirit of RPCVs and the entire Peace Corps network. On March 1st, 2024, contest winners will have their stories performed by local students on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage in Washington D.C.

Winners will receive public recognition from the Peace Corps and be invited to attend the in-person storytelling event. For those who are unable to make the trip, the event will be livestreamed.

The theme of the Storytelling Contest is Growing Together: Stories from the Peace Corps and we hope to capture stories about the shared progress, relationship building, and intercultural exchange that happens between all members of the Peace Corps community.

Eligibility:

Individuals from across the Peace Corps network are eligible to submit a story, including:

  • Counterparts
  • Current Peace Corps or Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCVs/PCRVs)
  • Current and former Peace Corps staff
  • Host families or host community members
  • Returned Peace Corps or Peace Corps Response Volunteers (RPCVs/RPCRVs)
  • Virtual Service Pilot Participants

We highly encourage you to reach out to a member of your host community and ask them if they would be interested in submitting a story for the contest. They are welcome to film their story in any language if it is accompanied by a transcript in English. Please consider helping a member of your host family or a local counterpart in translating their story for submission.

Deadline for Submissions:

Video submissions will be accepted until 11:59 pm ET on December 1, 2023 via the online submission form. Additional information about eligibility, contest theme and submission requirements can be found on the Growing Together: Stories from the Peace Corps contest page.

If you have any questions, please reach out to us at thirdgoal@peacecorps.gov.

Thank you for your support in sharing the stories of the Peace Corps and we look forward to hearing you and your host communities’ stories soon.

Sincerely,

Office of the Third Goal and Returned Volunteer Services
