Call for submissions!

Following the success of Everywhere Stories Volume I, we are now preparing Volume II for publication in the Fall of 2016.

Everywhere Stories: Short Fiction from a Small Planet (Edited by Clifford Garstang, published by Press 53 in Fall 2014) is an anthology of short fiction (short stories of any length, short shorts, and flash) set around the globe, including the United States. Volume I consisted of 20 stories by 20 authors set in 20 countries.

Volume II will consist of around 20 fictions, with no more than one story set in any one country. Included stories will be a mix of previously published and new work. Each contributor will be entitled to a contributor copy and author discounts on additional copies.

Deadline for submissions: December 31, 2015.

Writers may submit more than one story.

What Countries? We will not be repeating any countries (other than USA) from Volume I. Go here to see which countries were included in that volume: Everywhere Stories Volume I Table of Contents. In addition, as we accept stories, we’ll post a list of countries that will be covered in the new volume. DO NOT SUBMIT STORIES FOR COUNTRIES THAT ARE ALREADY COVERED.

Theme: Somewhat by accident, Volume I had a theme of “It’s a dangerous world.” We are not predetermining a theme for Volume II, but if anything the world has gotten more dangerous, don’t you think?

Rights and Terms: Author verifies that the story submitted is original and is not prohibited from publication by Press 53 by any previous publishing agreement. If accepted, the story shall remain in print with Press 53 until the anthology is out-of-print. Author will grant Press 53 non-exclusive world-wide publishing rights in exchange for one copy of the completed anthology. Additional copies may be purchased at a discount for as long as the anthology is in print.

Format: Please use 12-pt Time New Roman or similar font, double-spaced. Stories may be any length. Please note on the cover letter your name, contact information, word count, and in what country your story takes place.

Simultaneous Submissions are allowed, but please notify us immediately once your story is accepted elsewhere. We plan to notify everyone no later than March 31, 2016. Publication is scheduled for Fall 2016.
