To illustrate the proposed expanded budget and cost of the proposed Peace Corps for a congressman recently, I did all the math based on our present population, average American family size, and the total cost of the Peace Corps. The total each family would be asked to contribute in their taxes to underwrite the New Expanded Peace Corps in so many countries, positively affecting so many abroad and at home, for one year, was about $4.90 ... TOTAL. My service in Togo Fisheries 1966 took me back to work as an architect in Nigeria and positively affected my entire life ever since. I have proposed my own non-profit International Center for the Arts to promote a greater unity of all peoples, and my own site above has 3200 Friends, models and photographers, from most nations on earth. I critique their work, learn of their towns and cultures, and share what I learn daily with my many contacts here and abroad. The world is my concern and it has been Peace Corps that lead me, and my colleagues, to this realization.

From my experience the Peace Corps' effectiveness was usually outstanding. The insights gained from other cultures and languages is invaluable for creating the kind of world we really need.

"The Peace Corps provides the best return on the dollar in America's entire foreign policy budget."says this article.

As I recall, that phrase was initiated soon after the PC's first or second anniversary, and, I always assumed, things stayed that way.
