Wow, I just discovered this and I am really touched by Mr. Hessler's(that's the name I still remember him by) writing. I met up with Peter when he visited Princeton earlier this spring and it was the first time we had seen each other for almost a dozen years. Ever since I was accepted to Princeton--which is also his alma mater--I have always remembered Peter Hessler's influence in my life and I am really grateful for what he did for me at Grant Elementary. I wasn't really sure if he enjoyed tutoring me but now I understand that the experience was as important for him as it was for me at the time.
