The Army Corps of engineers will address the problems that led to North Dakota and New Orleans being flooded, unless the environmentalists stop their work.

Perhaps the cooling caused by cold water from Greenland "flooding" the Gulf Stream will balance the continental warming due to the "Greenhouse" effect.

Reilly,

My understanding is that the water from the Ice Cap is fresh water and it dilutes the saline content of the Gulf Stream and thus reduces its carrying capacity. The warm water sinks. The effect is the same for Northern Europe.

Global warming will actually cause Europe to get colder. Most of Europe is in the same latitude range as much of Canada, but Europe is warmer because of the effects of the Gulf Stream. As the Greenland ice cap melts it sends cold water into the Gulf Stream thus lowering its temperature and reducing its warming effect on Europe.

I would be concerned about climate change altering flooding if all but one of the world's major rivers had not been altered already by manmade devices, e.g. the Aswan Dam. Man is clearly able to control flooding.
