Most of Europe is in the same latitude range as much of Canada, but Europe is warmer because of the effects of the Gulf Stream. As the Greenland ice cap melts it sends cold water into the Gulf Stream thus lowering its temperature and reducing its warming effect on Europe. Man is clearly able to control flooding.
