My last two visits to D.C. in 2010 and 2011 felt just like Guatemala City or San Salvador during their civil wars. It's interesting how Americans, just as was true for Salvadorans and Guatemaltecos, are told that this is "for our own good." What did they tell Germans in the 1930's?
