Bruce Schlein was a Peace Corps Volunteer from 1990 to1992  in Papua New Guinea where he was a Rural Community Development Volunteer focusing on water resources  — ferrocement rain catchment tanks in particular.

He joined Citi in 2006 as Vice President of Corporate Sustainability, where he works with Citi’s business and operational units to engage with stakeholders and clients, understand emerging environmental and social issues and trends, mitigate related risks, and develop products and services to capitalize on related opportunities.

Prior to Citi Bruce worked for Bechtel as a sustainability specialist on oil and gas and civil projects in China and Romania.

Previously, he worked for international development agencies including Save the Children, and Catholic Relief Services in Bosnia Herzegovina as a Peace Corps/Crisis Corps Volunteer.

Bruce is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a Masters in International Affairs from Johns Hopkins Nitze School of Advanced International Studies; the latter for which he will be an adjunct professor in the fall of 2009. Bruce lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife Patricia and 15-month old son Lucas.
